This is a children's book based on an African folktale. It is about trickery, apology and forgiveness. Jongwe the Rooster convinces other animals that it was his crowing that makes the sun rise. He would get lots of goodies from the animals let they would end up with no sun if they did not keep him happy. Although the animals appreciated his service, some animals, those who work on the farm, would rather have more time to sleep than they were getting. These came up with a plan to keep Jongwe from crowing for at least a day. Their plan worked and Jongwe did not crow one morning.Yet the sun still rose. So the other animals caught up with his lies. They confronted him about the lie. Jongwe ran away into the bushes wondering what to do next. Sheep followed him in the bushes and advised him to apologize and to pay back what he had got through lies.Jongwe apologized and promised never to repeat the trickery and to pay back what he had tricked others out of.The other animals finally forgave him for which Jongwe was grateful.
