Typical serial killer read, nice choice in weapon though

I'll start by saying I really disliked the main character. I disliked him a whole lot and attribute everything he goes through to the fact that he allows it to happen. Anyway, by the time I started looking the MC, the book was almost over. But that was the best part of the book. There's no shortage of gore or creative ways that mallet on the front cover is used. I'm honestly looking forward to the next book. At the same time, I'm hoping it's better than this one was. The only issue I really had was on page 185 (Kindle edition) was the claim that a butter knife was pinning anything to a cabinet. Butter knives are blunt and don't exactly have a way to embed in anything. A steak knife would have been more believable for the scene. There's a few other places where there's minor errors, mostly missing words, nothing drastic; but this butter knife thing was the only thing that really gave me pause. I give this book 3 of 5 Paws as I jump into Jones 1993.
