Inspires children and adults to look beyond themselves
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
This book first caught my eye because of the title (my son's name is Jonathan),then I opened it and started to read, Jonathan's parents are loving and encouraging, but then the story hints that there is something about Jonathan that is different from the other children on Gull Mountain.Albom's detailed illustrations entertained my son while I read the story. Jonathan discovers he is different and becomes isolated from his peers. The story takes an honest approach about life's disappointments and how to handle them. Jonathan becomes the hero of the story by listening to a wise old friend and by not being afraid to turn his 'deffect' into his greatest strength. Through his experience he feels the desire to change the way things are done on Gull Mountain. You see the beginnings of what is to come because of one person's willingness to look beyond himself to those who are different!!!
