Jonathan Eig is a journalist and biographer from the United States.

Eig was raised in Monsey, New York, after being born in Brooklyn, New York. He's Jewish. His mother was a homemaker and a prominent member of the community, while his father worked as an accountant.
At age 16, Eig started working for his hometown newspaper. He went to Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1986.
He was a news reporter for the New Orleans Times-Picayune after graduating from college.
