John Jacob Mease not only lived during this time frame, he was actually personally involved in these events. During his life time, he traveled from the eastern to the western areas of our country and back to the Midwest experiencing these developments in the formation of our expanding country. John Jacob Mease was born on November 4, 1836, in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, the son of Christian Joseph and Elizabeth Eby Mease.
