John 1,2,3, The Touchstone Bible

By Matthew Simmons

The Books of 1, 2, and 3 John are three beautiful letters filled with wonderful lessons about God's love, kindness, truth, and faithfulness. Written by the Apostle John, these letters remind us how much God loves His children and how we can share that love with the world around us.

In 1 John, we discover that God is light and God is love John teaches us that when we follow Jesus Christ, we should walk in His light, turn away from sin, forgive others, and love one another with all our hearts. He reminds us that Jesus came to save us from our sins and give us the wonderful promise of eternal life. Even when we make mistakes, we can come to God for forgiveness and trust in His amazing love.

In 2 John, we learn the importance of walking in truth and love. John encourages believers to obey God's commandments, care for one another, and remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus. He also reminds us to be careful of false teachers who try to lead people away from God's Word. When we hold on to the truth and share God's love, we become shining examples of His goodness.

In 3 John, we meet three men named Gaius, Diotrephes, and Demetrius. Through their lives, John teaches us the difference between kindness and selfishness. Gaius shows love by welcoming and helping fellow Christians, while Diotrephes allows pride to control his actions. Demetrius is praised for his good character and faithfulness. Their stories remind us to choose humility, generosity, and goodness in everything we do.

Together, these three wonderful letters teach us that being a follower of Jesus is about more than words. It is about having a loving heart, helping those in need, standing strong in God's truth, and treating others with kindness and respect.

The beautiful message of 1, 2, and 3 John is simple: God loves us more than we can imagine When we walk in His light, live in His love, and follow His truth, we can shine brightly for Jesus and share His goodness with everyone around us
