Joe is excited about buying a pair of secondhand skates with the money he has saved up and decides he's going to wear them all summer long. His parents want him to learn a lesson from this decision and let him wear his skates until he decides to take them off. He likes this decision but finds that one day this wasn't a good idea after all. When his parents find that he has learned his lesson and repents, they reward him with a loving gift and a family outing. Sometimes we hold on to things and make them more important than being obedient to our parents and God. When we finally realize this and repent, those in authority over us give us so much more than we could ever imagine.
