On December 10, 1996, in Ames, Iowa, Joe Burrow entered the world with football practically running through his veins. His birth came while his father, Jim Burrow, was serving as an assistant coach for the Iowa State Cyclones football team. From his earliest days, Joe was immersed in the world of football, toddling around practice fields and absorbing the game's culture almost by osmosis.

The Burrow family didn't stay put in Iowa for long. As is common with coaching families, they followed Jim's career opportunities, which meant young Joe experienced several relocations during his formative years. When Joe was around four years old, the family moved to North Dakota when Jim took a coaching position at North Dakota State. A few years later, they relocated again when Jim accepted a coaching job at the University of Nebraska.
These early years of Joe's childhood were marked by the constant presence of football. Whether he was watching his dad coach, attending games, or tossing a ball around with his older brothers, the sport quickly became an intrinsic part of his identity. Friends and family members recall a precocious, sports-obsessed youngster who displayed remarkable focus and determination even at a young age.
The most significant move for Joe's development came when he was around nine years old. The family settled in Athens, Ohio, when Jim accepted a position as defensive coordinator at Ohio University. This would become the place where Joe would put down roots, develop his athletic talents, and eventually emerge as one of the most promising football prospects in the state.
