Job is a book of anscient but exquisitepoetry. It is also one of the most intellectually challenging books in the Bible.
In our day of soundbites and tweers, however, a book with 40 chapters of poetry is too daunting for many modern readers so it has slipped out of the awareness of most people. Job Goes to Court selects the verses that carry the essential discussion providing a summary to bring back its the message for busy people.
Job suffers the loss of all his property, the loss of all his children and then his health. He complaind bitterly because he felt his suffering was unfair. He . blamed God for causing an innocent man to suffer so grievously. His friends offer all the tradional explantions for suffering but Job rejects them all.
The case then goes to the divine court. Job receives a new vision of the truth about the caus or causes ofsufferingsuffering. In the last court scene Job sees "God".
When we find the truth for ourselves and we abandon false explanations and excuses we can marshall our srenth and our resources to confront the actual causes of suffering and work diligently to relief, protection, and peace for all who are afflicted.
