Jim was athletic throughout his life. In high school, he lettered in wrestling and football. At Stanford University, he learned yoga, which he continued to practice throughout his life. He was a Bible Salesman during summers to help pay for his education. After graduation, he became a mountain biker, riding even in sub-zero temperatures. After his marriage, he and Bev backpacked through France, Germany, Yugoslavia, Crete, Egypt and Africa, where Jim was hospitalized for malaria. They returned home and settled in Idaho where they raised their two children, and continued to ride their mountain bikes. Jim's life was abruptly taken by a hidden aneurysm. He was a donor, giving tissue to a pain-filled man and restored the sight of two other - a legacy of healing to the community.
