Jim Metcalf's writing was more like musical prose. I had the joy of hearing him speak it thirty-some years ago when he had a weekly program called "A Sunday Journal" on local television in the late great City of New Orleans. His voice still echoes in my head as I read my vintage copy this book. Many of the selections were poignant then--they are heart-wrenching now, particularly "Bourbon Street at Dusk" "Windows" and the antedeluvian "New Orleans". Read 'em and weep.
It's emotional and touching. The poems are great

Its an interesting book, people with whom I have shared this book with have loved it. I did not know the title of the book, but I did know the author's name from the preface. The book was given to me by an old lady whom my mom worked with about 9 years ago. I read the book from cover to cover when I was 15, but the book is old that it's falling apart. Thank You. END
