Historical Treatment of a Living Word

For those of us who want to appreciate the historical Jesus more as we study the Bible and grow in faith, this book is a wonderful addition to the library. While structured like a text book, it reads more like the stories in the Bible than dense scholarly prose. It places Jesus and the gospels in historical perspective and gives the reader a sense of what the New Testament is saying in a way that is comprehensible and engaging. You do not have to be a seminary student to enjoy this book. For such an ambitious topic, it is a quick read and enjoyable. The reference system in the back of the book allows the reader to check corresponding verses in the Bible.
