A Gem on John's Gospel

This hard to find work is worth finding if you can. Leon Morris spent a good part of his scholarly career studying the Gospel of John and his commentary in the NICNT series is still one of the best. If you are serious about understanding the major themes of John's gospel and gaining insight into the Apostle's theological mind this small volume is excellent. It is a one of a kind from a conservative Biblical perspective. In 10 accessible chapters (224p. total) Morris deals in order with: 1) John's Theological Purpose; 2) The Relation between the Signs and the Discourses; 3) Jesus, the Man; 4) The Christ of God; 5) The Son of God; 6) The "I AM" Sayings; 7) God the Father; 8) The Holy Spirit; 9) "That You May Believe"; and 10) Life. The work is especially helpful to those who are preaching or teaching through John. Morris demonstrates scholarly awareness of the issues, yet writes in a way the lay person or pastor can understand. Highly recommended.
