Jesus Is Enough: The Theology of Revival

Many preachers are not looking to the Scriptures to get their theology on revival. That is not to say that these preachers are not preaching the Bible. On the contrary. They are preaching on revival out of the Scriptures. However, what I believe has taken place is that they are interpreting the passages from which they are preaching by either the historical accounts of the revivals of the past or by their own personal experiences. One of the reasons why this is so dangerous is simply because the history books or our own personal experiences can be wrong. Only the Scriptures can be fully trusted without any hesitation. You may have been in a wonderful meeting, but your interpretation of what took place in that meeting can be in error. We must interpret our experiences through the lens of Scripture and not interpret the Scripture through the lens of our experiences.
