This small book was written as a testimony to the game of baseball, and how the game can become a vehicle to successful adulthood. I observed this first-hand when my former players at Luther College came together for a reunion 47 years after they graduated from college. They all played on conference championship teams that were invited to participate in the NCAA Regional Tournament, which was quite an accomplishment for a college of only 2,000 students! In addition, several of the former players were members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chapter on the Luther College campus during their playing days. The combination of baseball and FCA contributed to some very outstanding and heart-warming stories of these fine men, their families, their careers, and their involvement in church and community activities. Thus, I became motivated to share their stories, because their lives were not about winning baseball games, but about the lessons that they took with them in life. It is a message that should be read by today's parents, players, coaches, fans, and administrators so that the integrity of the wonderful game of baseball does not get lost on the sole focus of winning. Their faith-based stories should provide role models for all of us, and it has been my good fortune to be able to share a few of their accomplishments in this small book. Happy reading!!
