Do humans beings have dominion over all the earth? (Genesis 1:26) Most people, without question, believe that humanity has dominion over everything on the earth. We can control or domesticate wild animals, produce vast quantities of food with massive agricultural equipment, build comfortable homes in every kind of environment, look inside molecules, see to the distant reaches of the universe, harness electricity for use with infinitesimal tools and machines, travel long distances with ease, send people and equipment to the moon, affect weather with cloud seeding, and transfer vast amounts of information in seconds. Unquestionably, we have dominion over all the earth. With every advance in technology, people think, "Now life will be much better." No matter how many advances we gain in our ability to control earth's plants and animals, manipulate matter and energy, human beings as a whole, still do not have the quality of life that was in the dominion given by God to Adam and Eve. Humanity as a whole lacks perfect health, maintains massive disparity between the very rich and the poverty stricken, while dysfunction remains commonplace for individuals, families, communities, and between nations. Once we understand from the scriptures what was originally given, how it was taken away, and how Jesus Christ took it back, then we, as Christians, in spite of the world's depravity, can live in the center of the will of God, in the dominion and quality of life that was first given to mankind by God.
