As 2022, the power of the publishing industry is now concentrated in a small handful of multinational companies - namely Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Hachette Book Group, and Macmillan. These companies are acting a bit like a Publishing Mafia in the International Community, and are bent on making as much money as the can. Especially since they have virtually the entire backing of the Western publishing propaganda machine behind time - in particular the American and English Press - who praise books as unsurpassed master pieces by the above mentioned publishers; even if these books are boring and bad as hell. In fact, if there would be a Hell for Publishers, all of 'em would probably find themselves there in the afterlife: ) I would not say that the stuff they publish is all bad. It's just pretty mediocre and conservative stuff - basically enforcing the status quo and promoting the corrupt establishment of the world; which is very disappointing: ( In fact, it would seem that most of those so-called publishing leaders, have given up on the world altogether, and made the joint decision to bore the world to death with their boring books. So despite a rise in self-publishing, commercial publishers are still the main gatekeepers of what arrives on our bookshelves. As such, they have great cultural and - if a book takes off - economic power. In short, my dear friends in the Publishing Industry - namely Jonathan Karp, Markus Dohle, Brian Murray, Michael Pietsch, Stefan Holtzbrinck, Don Weisberg and Jon Yaged - must make a greater effort to publish more progressive, revolutionary and cutting edge stuff - that promotes Equality, Equity and a Basic Income Guarantee (BIG). Period.
