Claire is stuck with him and he is stuck with her; thrown closely together for a few days until he can get her to safety. She reminds him of his lost wife in so many ways. They unconsciously re-align each other's lives to bring him back into the land of the vibrantly alive and the living as they give free rein to their emotions in the most basic ways.
