Little Jennie Booth was only two years old when her Mormon family packed up and left England in 1857. The Latter-Day Saints had been called to Zion, in Utah territory, and it was a long and eventful adventure. The first part of the journey began with three weeks aboard the George Washington ship, leaving from Liverpool England and arriving in Boston, Massachusetts. Life aboard the ship wasn't easy with many of the voyagers seasick, multiple scary storms bombarding the vessel, and even birth of a baby. However, Little Jennie Booth was ever the happy child, secure in the knowledge that her family would thrive. With Pa, Richard, and Ma, Elsie, along with her two older brothers, John and James, and five-year-old sister Martha, Jennie enjoyed her days aboard the ship of prayer, helping, playing and most of all, loving.
