Jemy

Jemy Lenier is the eight-year-old son of a peasant couple living on the outskirts of Bordeaux in the 1780s. Life is pleasant until one night, some burglars break into their farm and steal one of their cows, as well as murdering his parents in the process. Devastated, Jemy runs away from the farm, ultimately running across Bordeaux and reaching the coast. The following morning, he's found asleep on the sand by some sailors looking for treasures. They decide to take Jemy in, and the sailors' captain raises him as his own. One year later, Jemy and the sailors flee France for La Louisiane because they fear getting murdered on the Guillotine. Twelve years later, Jemy and the sailors return to Bordeaux, where Jemy meets a humble girl and the two fall in love. Witnessing the distress of some peasants, Jemy writes a letter to the new leader of France, asking for a solution. What will the leader offer Jemy? Will Jemy receive an award for helping the peasants?
