Known for exploring and experimenting with the integration and reproduction of digital and analogue imagery, American artist Jeff Elrod combines digital design and printing techniques with traditional, manual artistry, producing unique contributions to the vernacular of contemporary painting. Elrod straddles digital and analogue workspaces, digitally designing gestural, abstract drawings that he then renders by hand on canvas using a projector, tape and paint. Recent years have brought a new dimension to Elrod's practice through his appropriation of his own earlier painting as source material for new artworks that are composed of reconstructed imagery from the original work and digitally printed onto canvas. In a further experimental series, the "blur paintings", Elrod examines the dichotomy between the traditional painterly workspace and the virtual space of a computer. Jeff Elrod: Artificial Paradise collects works from 2009- 2016 that demonstrate Elrod's creative and technical range. Currently living and working in New York City and Marfa, Texas, Elrod has exhibited at MoMA PS1, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and many other institutions.
