As an Italian language teacher, I find this book an excellent tool for students who wish to increase their vocabulary and strengthen their grammar as well as to learn and appreciate what life is like in Italy. I highly recommend this book to Italian teachers as an invaluable text to stimulate class conversation while helping the students learn contemporary Italian. It comes with exercises which further strengthen the student's command of grammar.
Good for practice

I am taking private Italian lessons and my teacher suggested I read a chapter of these dialogues each week to accompany our class lessons. So far they are good practice, and I like the length of each chapter (longer than the reading sections in my textbook, but not so long I feel I'll never get to the end). Although we don't use the book's exercises in class, I personally find them helpful as a grammar review.

Delightful, humorous and charming stories explain how to talk about the frustrations and pleasures of daily life. From the laundromat and the post office to getting on the internet -- sensible Jean and adorable Roscoe concisely provide the real-world vocabulary and phrasing you need to get along with friends, family and the community. This book looks so simple and is so easy to use -- but its value is huge because it's so practical!
Fun while learning!

It's hard for students to find Italian reading that isn't too difficult yet not boring, so this reader works well for those of us who want to read and also seek practical information about living and traveling in Italy. I particularly like the casual, conversational style and the variety of exercises at the end of each chapter. And I must say, the book really is a fun read.
Good reading supplement

This book is terrific. Ten chapters, mostly in dialogue, relate the funny, real-life experiences of two characters who go to Perugia to study Italian at l'Università per Stranieri. Having gone there myself, I recognized many situations and places, and could relate to the often frustrating challenges adjusting to the Italian way of doing things -- at times I laughed out loud, particularly at Roscoe's attitude. It is written well and I found the exercises at the end of each chapter useful. The illustrations add a nice touch. This would be a good supplemental reader for an intermediate student of Italian.
