One of the most prolific artists of the French eighteenth century. Oudry was a master of landscape, still life, and animal painting, and his sensitivity to light sets his landscapes apart from the imaginary scenes of other French painters of the time. He was instrumental in helping to replace the elite basis of art with an appeal to a broader public. The paintings in this collection are outstanding.
