Best Java Book for Beginners or for those revising

After 2.5 years of not doing any Java Programming, my skills have become a little rusty, so I have decided to study for the SCJP. Then I realized that most Java books out there don't teach you the fundamentals very well. For a beginner's book, one thing I will expect are instructions on how to set path (yes... after 2.5 years of not programming I nearly forgot how to set path). This is one of the very few books that have instructions on how to do so. It is also very clear in explaining the basic concepts needed for Java. Unlike some other books, it does not have complicated programming examples that require plenty of deciphering to be able to understand the concept its trying to illustrate. Instead, it uses very simple, to the point examples to explain java concepts. It helped to clear up many misunderstandings I had about the subject. This is a great book for those who are just starting out or like me, need a bit of revision. This book is not the only book I'll have to read to study for the SCJP (for that, I'll also need to read the SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Exam 310-065), but it is a good starting point for building a strong foundation in Java programming.
Good first Java book

I picked this book up cheap and with little effort you can too. I'm not saying this is the best Java book in the world, but it certainly does what it says it does. Introduce you to Java and giving you lots of useful information that will save you time. I wasn't able to find anywhere to download the code, but I had no problems compiling it after I typed it in. There is enough of these books out there now that people have whipped through to not buy it new. So if you are looking for a first Java book for $1-5 I'd say this is good choice.
