the joy of sharing

I found the title alone to be a reason to buy this book. I have been an elementary school teacher for 4 year, and I know that sharing is difficult for children. Dana Webb's book is an excellent book for reinforcing this character quality. Jared finds out that there are lots of ways to be a help to others rather than "doing his own thing," with the string that he was given. The main character is joyful as he does various helpful things for people using his string. I think that children will enjoy this book over and over because of its simple message and for the fun illustrations. Some children will go out immediatly looking for ways to share with others as Jared did.
