After I got out of the army, I became homeless. It was at that point I discovered the positive effects hiking had on PTSD, so I decided to walk across America. Over the next three years, I completed 5,000 miles on a bike and 5,000 miles on foot, crossing the entire continent of North America three times During that time, I was able to raise $60,000 for various charities, all while digging through trash for food, having piss bottles thrown at me, getting shot at, nearly freezing to death, and all the other fun stuff that came with it. Although it may sound like an altruistic stroll through the park, each day presented new challenges. Most people didn't know who I was or what I was doing, so not only do you get to follow along on an epic adventure, but my journey also unveils what it is like to be homeless in America.
