Her character, Joyce Ann Bailey, is your typical thirteen years old and an honor student in Eatontown, New Jersey. She was excited about another summertime visit by train to her grandparents' home in Suffolk, Virginia. She was filled with peacefulness of seeing her Mom's parents once again for June, July and August. But at this visit, she was weighted down with heavy images on her mind. She was confused and perplexed and didn't know what to do, Her heart was unfeeling. She wondered if Eva and Pervis Tazell, her Mom's parents, should know the truth about Jasper Bailey, her father.
