"Jacobi Acontii Satanae Stratagematum Libri Octo" est monumentum praeclarum de tolerantia religiosa et de natura dogmatis christiani. In hoc opere, Jacobus Acontius, humanista et theologus Italicus, argumentatur dissensiones et persecutiones in ecclesia esse stratagemata Satanae, quibus unitas fidelium frangitur. Scriptum in medio saeculo decimo sexto, hoc opus fundamenta iacit ad libertatem conscientiae et ad simplicitatem fidei reducendam, contra rigiditatem confessionalem illius temporis.

Acontius doctrinam proponit ubi dogmata ad minima et certissima redigenda sunt, ut pax inter Christianos servetur. Argumentatio eius non solum theologica est, sed etiam psychologica, scrutans quomodo superbia et ira mentes hominum obscurent. Editio haec, a G. Koehler curata, studiosis historiae ecclesiasticae, reformationis, et philosophiae politicae praebet fontem primarium ad intellegendum quomodo ideae de tolerantia in Europa moderna orta sint.
