Book Overview

There's Trouble in the North...

Meet Jack, a tracker with a past he's trying to escape the first epic book of the Minnesota Kingston series by USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren.

Her secret blew apart his life-and now she needs his help? If only he could say no...

Ten years should be long enough for Jack to forget the girl-next-door, his kid sister's bestie and the woman-no, girl-who derailed his life. Now, he sort of likes his loner world as a missing person's tracker. Well, mostly. But of course, when he returns home for his sister's wedding, there she is...

Nope, not forgotten at all.

Of course Jack the Grump has shown up for his sister's wedding, and by the way he looks at Harper, um, clearly her sins aren't forgiven. So what-she's sooo over her best-friend's brooding, dark oldest brother. Really.

Then a bridesmaid goes missing.

And sure, Harper is a journalist who knows how to sniff out truth, but the clock is ticking and there's only one person who can help...Perfect. No problem. She's not going to fall for her childhood crush again. Promise.

Yes, Jack can admit that Harper's not the girl he used to call Pigtails anymore. She's all grown up...but he's not going to get burned again. Still, what's a guy going to do?

So, find her missing friend, get the bride down the aisle and ditch town before they find themselves in over their heads...or worse.

Dead.

Jack is a best friend's brother, childhood crush, grumpy-to sunshine, sweet but sizzly romantic suspense about second chances and finding the family you always wanted...

Action and Romance

If you've seen the TV show Tracker then you will understand what Jack Kingston does for a living.....he finds people for rewards. All of the Kingston siblings are home for Boo's wedding when one of her bridesmaids, Penelope Piper, goes missing. Harper, Boo's best friend, hires Jack to find her with the condition that she helps him even though he works alone. Working together they learn that they truly do have feelings for each other....now to stay alive to find Penelope and get Boo married. There is a lot of action, suspense, romance, humor, faith, and mystery in this story. Jack is the first in the Minnesota Kingston series and I can't wait to read the other siblings stories.

A fantastic intro to Minnesota Kingston family

"You're his and he's yours, and now you start to dive deeper into the joy and wonder of your love. You stop trying to earn it and start the tending of it." What a fantastic welcome to the Minnesota Kingston clan. I loved catching up with Boo and Oaken as they prepared for their epic wedding in the heart of Minnesota's winter. It has all the elements that make Susan May Warren's books so enjoyable - adrenaline filled plot with twists and turns, engaging and lovable characters, great faith lessons, and nice romance arc. I cannot wait for the next installment of the series to get to know Conrad better. Jack was a wonderful alpha hero, burdened by his failures and mistakes. His serious, broody nature fit nicely with Harper's bubbly, romantic, and tenacious nature. Their race to find her missing friend turned into something bigger and more complex, involving a cold murder case. The romantic trope of best friend's older brother worked well in the story. There was a second plot with a mysterious Emberly, whom I will have to wait until Steinback's story to figure out who she is. I loved getting glimpses of the Alaska Kingstons, as well as the Minnesota and Montana Marshalls. If you are a fan of Susan May Warren, you will absolutely love this book and the Minnesota Kingstons. If you have never read a Susan May Warren book, Jack is the perfect book to start the marvelous journey you will embark on with the author's books. A Great Beginning to the New Series

Jack is the oldest Kingston sibling and he’s returned after an extended absence to attend his youngest sister’s wedding. He’s paired with an old flame that left Jack embarrassed and the last thing either Jack or Harper want is to be together. But since this is a romantic suspense, they are thrust together to find a bridesmaid that goes missing. I liked Jack and Harper. They had great chemistry, and readers will want to see them get their happily ever after. If you like stories with family dynamics, you’ll like this novel. Jack carries unnecessary guilt, and his healing through a lot of loving kindness is a joy to experience. Redemption stories are always a top favorite of mine. Harper is a powerful female who has the wits to take care of herself. Still, she doesn’t shun Jack’s protectiveness. I liked that about her. The suspense is good and not over the top. You’ll be guessing until the end about the bad guy’s identity. At least, I was. Finally, the romance is sweet with just the right amount of sizzle to keep readers interested in the couple but crosses no lines. This is a series, so be aware that Warren introduces a few mysteries that aren’t resolved in this story.
