Second half of Raphael and Cyn's story does not disappoint!

OMG. It's that good. (See my review of Raphael.) This great second half of Cyn and Raphael's story will make you smile and shout "yes!" (I did). I love the way they approach and avoid each other, two strong willed and reluctant lovers with powerful emotions. Their dialog is refreshingly unique--that between a thinking woman's vamp and a smart, sharp tongued heroine. I love the way the author takes account of details in dress, appearance, mood and surroundings to make you feel as if you are there. Few authors can do as well. She weaves a great tale and vampire romance lovers will not be disappointed. When I finished this second book, I promptly re-read both Raphael and Jabril. That, and the fact I couldn't put them down, justify my 5 star rating. The third book (RAJMUND) is due out July/Aug. 2010.

Loved this book just as much as Raphael

I think Raphael is a great book and I wasn't sure if Jabril could be as good but I was wrong. My favorite P.I. Cynthia Leighton takes a job in Texas to try and put some space between her and Raphael so she could start to heal her wounded heart. When she gets to Texas she meets a truly cruel vampire named Jabril who would like Cyn to find a missing underage girl Liz (and its not because he is concerned for her safety) who he has custody over. When Cyn gets to Jabril's estate she sees that it isn't just Liz who needs help from Jabril but her older sister Mirabelle is also victim of his cruelty. While trying to help the sisters Cyn is forced back to LA and to come face to face with Raphael. The action is great in this book and the scenes between Cyn and Raphael are some of my favorite moments. If you liked Raphael you will not be disappointed with Jabril. I can't wait for Rajmund which unfortunately doesn't come out till next year.

Red Hot Read

DB Reynolds has done it again with Book 2 of her Vampire in America series. Vampyric pleasure accrues when "sucking down" this great read. You just can't put it down. I had to finish it in one sitting. The ever tough, sexy and determined PI Cynthia Leighton (known as Cyn to her friends) takes a big vampire investigation job in Texas to try and blot out Raphael's rejection of her from her mind and heart. Yes Raphael is back, that hunky Vampire Lord who stole her heart in Book 1. In Houston she receives her assignment from the slimy and truly evil Vampire Lord Jabril Karim. All his conniving, evil and destructive ways are described in detail...I think I hissed out loud when I read his name on the page. Ultimately, Cyn follows her conscious and battles to save the two wards of Jabril, sisters Liz and Mirabelle, who have been enslaved by Jabril, as he seeks to funnel their fortunes his way. Incurring Jabril's wrath, Cyn must seek shelter once again with Raphael. The romance scenes are intimate and sexy as always and my favorite vamp Duncan, shows why he is Raphael's trusted companion again and again. Once more DB Reynolds has satisfied us immensely and has left us wanting more --thank goodness Rajmund, Book 3 of Vampires in America, is on the way to us this Fall.

D.B. Reynolds provides a wonderful and exciting urban fantasy that will appeal to fans of vampire ro

Jabril Karim used his political clout to gain guardianship pf Elizabeth and Mirabelle. When she turned the legal age of consent eighteen, Jabril converted her into a vampire like he is. He took over their home and the teen's fortune. The Vampire Lord is outsmarted by Elizabeth who planned and executed her escape perfectly. Jabril hires a male private investigator to find her, but also employs P.I. Cynthia Leighton who once had a relationship with Vampire Lord Raphael until he walked away from her. Jabril wants to irritate his rival Raphael so he pretends Cyn is his only sleuth working for him. His scheme backfires when she finds in Houston what condition Mirabelle is in. Cyn rescues her and takes her to her home in Los Angeles where she comes into Raphael's orbit because she must beg her former lover to make the teen his own. Cyn looks for Liz among the runaways, but is unaware that a snake creeps in Raphael's realm ready to sell the women to foster favor with an outraged fuming Jabril. Jabril is a monster out of the Stoker school of vampires as power is his elixir and anyone else is expendable regardless of the laws governing the North American vampires. Raphael is his opposite coming out of the modern day romance school of vampires as he cares what happens to others and abides by the governing laws. The fabulous story line focuses on the vast diversity of ethics between the eight Vampire Lords with the concentration being on the two polar opposites. Cyn is sinfully perfect as the rope in the vampiric tug of war. Wit this sequel to RAPHAEL, D.B. Reynolds provides a wonderful and exciting Vampires in America urban fantasy that will appeal to fans of vampire romantic thrillers. Harriet Klausner

Sizzling and Satisfying Book 2

This follow up to Reynolds' "Raphael" does not disappoint. We are treated once again to tough, beautiful P.I. Cynthia Leighton and to die for vampire, Raphael. Cyn is on the outs with Raphael and takes an offer from an evil Texas vampire lord, Jabril, to find his missing ward. The action rockets from Texas to California and back to Arizona in this fast read. I couldn't put it down. The love scenes between Cyn and Raphael sizzle (yes they kiss and make up in one of the best written declarations of love ever written in a romance novel). I guarantee vampire romance enthusiasts will love "Jabril", but start with "Raphael". Then be like me and wait impatiently for next years' "Rajmund".
