Otis Bennett paints us a vivid portrait of his short life. Sandra Weiner uses Otis taped narrations as a manuscript for this book giving it a raw sense of honesty. I was completly captivated by a lifestyle so different then my own suburban up-bringing. Amidst poverty in 1960s Queens NY, Otis naively navigates his hectic life while retaining all the hopes and dreams typical of any 10 yearold boy. From the readers standpoint we see how society has the cards stacked against him. The first time I read this book I kept wondered how Otis life turned out. I was saddened to read on the last page a brief & sad synapsis by the author Sandra Weiner. This book is a tribute to the life of Otis Bennett and I felt comfort knowing that by my reading it , I was one more person who whould remember him. J. Hagen

This is good reading for youth, interesting, leading up to little situations, most like a youthful biography, about a little boy, and his little encounters. you move along with the character as he encounters this situation and that. i recommend this for those loving reading, a taste of ethnic living. Today, were a people of all nations, and enjoy venturing in reading, with this little boy. Youll enjoy it
