It's not about me is about REAL LIFE...

"It's Not about Me" deals with real-life issues in a very real way. Teen pregancy, alcholism, premartial sex and the issue of "just because you go the church you're a Christian" mentality. See how the characters cope with these situations. Does it cause them to turn to the Savior or will they continue in the foolishness of their ways? The story didn't feel rushed to me and the changes in the characters seemed very natural. I highly recommend this book for older teens on up.

A Moving Read

Reviewed by James E. Robinson (Tennessee), September 08, 2008 "Michelle Sutton's It's Not About Me offers readers a wonderful combination of gifts: compelling storytelling, believable and engaging dialog, and perhaps most importantly, a reverent-with-edge examination of the human condition. This is a book mercifully free of easy answers and tidy resolutions. Sutton paints with broad, bright strokes, introducing the reader to characters who are far from perfect, thereby allowing us to connect with them in very human ways. Her flawed heroes and heroines are, like most of us, prone to doubts, selfishness, lusts, and behaviors that range from noble and selfless to petty and idolatrous. And because we can relate so strongly to their day-by-day battles between flesh and spirit, we can rejoice and ache with them, laugh and cry, and ultimately learn that perhaps it's when life is most messy that God's grace shines brightest. By allowing her characters to be fully human, Sutton delivers a story that glows with authentic holiness." James E. Robinson, author of The Flower of Grass

Great Debut Book

Looks can be deceiving. Anyone would have thought Annie Myers had it all, a great looking boyfriend, loving parents, getting ready for college, even her Christian life was satisfactory. Then an encounter with a homeless man with a knife changed her life forever. Now Annie has some very serious decisions to make, and she's not sure where to turn. This is Michelle Sutton's debut novel and let me tell you, she can write. The story is a little edgy, but then so is life. She touches on serious subjects such as teen sex, alcohol, deception, trust, and forgiveness. and her characters are not cardboard perfect either. They mess up sometimes, and there are no easy answers, just as there are no easy answers to the problems we face in our lives. Realistic characters, a beliveable plot, and a strong message of a merciful God who loves us and is waiting to forgive and welcome a repentent sinner, make this a strong, powerful, riviting story. Look for more from this very talented writer.

Excellent Debut Novel!

Michelle Sutton has done a great job in her debut novel, setting us up for more to come. Not afraid to attack sensitive subjects, this author has hit them all, head-on, and entertained us in the process. Great job--and looking forward to the next one!

FABULOUS READ! ROMANTIC AND EDGY. A MUST READ!

I love this story!!!! It's fresh, full of life, and life's lessons. A must read, for sure. Fabulous debut novel! Michelle Sutton's, It's Not About Me, is one of the strongest romance stories I've ever read. But there's a whole lot more to it than just romance. That's only the icing on the cake. And this cake has several layers...some sweet, some not so sweet. This fabulous author touches on several real life issues and handles them with the utmost delicacy and expertise. A very emotionally, satisfying story to be sure. Talk about fresh and unique writing, this story has it. I know this is cliché, but you can't turn the pages fast enough. Why you may ask? Well, her protagonist, Annie, goes through things that we can only hope and pray will never happen to us. Talk about pressure. Annie's life is loaded with all kinds of it...in more ways than one. What am I talking about? AS IF! I'll never tell. You have to buy the book to find out. Some bum off the street plays a huge part in this story. But how? And Is it good or bad? Two brothers private battles are the same, and yet different. What are they? Buy the book and find out. To know Jesus, or to not know Jesus. That's the question that I ask of thee. What do I mean? Buy the book and find out. Friends? Good or evil? You shall know them by their fruit. What does this have to do with anything? Buy the book and find out. You won't be sorry. It's Not About Me, is an amazing story. So make haste and order your copy today. Debra Ullrick, author of, The Bride Wore Coveralls, Déjà vu Bride, and Alabama Weddings
