Three young men, teenagers, come together to plan and execute the robbery of a corner store, late at night, a girl alone, it's no big thing. But the consequences of our actions can take us places that we could never imagine.Although the boys are from quite different backgrounds, those differences mark no boy as in any way exceptional, not in a complex and heterogeneous society in which immigration, divorce, and the glorification of violence are norms. The lives of all three boys are snapshots of 'the American dream', as is the life and experience of the girl in the store. Good homes, good education, solid, hard working and loving parents, and the support and opportunity to realize dreams. But the easy swell of normality can mask the dark and turbulent currents that shape those dreams, and that in turn drive men's actions.
