When thinking about becoming a foster parent or adopting, this is the first book you should read. It helps you understand how it feels to be a foster child, how ”the system “a foster parent, and helps you deal with the situation that you now will have as a tool from the life that Debbe Magnusen and her family went through. Social workers that I know have eaten it up because it helped them understand the children better as well as the foster parents and their psyche. A great read and it’s an action packed adventure. Read it in one night!
Stories To Think About

I recently read "It's Never Dull". Most of us don't know what it's like to watch a child experience seizures, or watch another child run everytime he catches a glimpse of a police car. It is also highly unusual that most of us must learn the techniques to quiet and sooth a drug exposed infant. The woman in this particular book does it all. Without hesitation, she takes drug exposed children into her home as her own and introduces them to a life that is calm, loving and warm. I personally can't imagine that these poor children endure the worse possible physical and mental anguish inside a mother's womb up until they are grown kids. Why does this happen? Most of us think that foster care is a blessing. That foster parents are prepared ahead of time for the travels ahead. I found that it isn't necessarily true. I learned that no one can be prepared when the biological addicted mother wants her child back and the court has awarded her request and the child is taken from a stable home placed back into chaos. She makes the reader feel what it is like to feel as a foster mother, as well as a woman that is trying to make a difference. Not being able to put this book down for 5 hours, I cried, laughed and learned about the different worlds that exist besides mine.
