Nobody wanted to coach my son's soccer team so I volunteered. That was 25 years ago, and it's taken me that long to put pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard) to document it. At first I considered it a chore (Wednesday nights in the middle of a cold Sydney winter is not the ideal time or place to spend wrangling 6 year old kids on a windswept soccer pitch), at the end I considered it to be one of the best and more rewarding "jobs" I've ever done. This book details everything I learned in those 10 years I coached from Under 6s to Under 15s. Without giving away too much the conclusion I reached was that sport is a great vehicle to teach kids what's important in sport (and in life), and I would highly recommend volunteering if you ever get the opportunity. The movie of the book should be out in late-2028 or early-2029 depending on many things, including enticing George Clooney to play the lead role of Coach, raising sufficient funds for the shoot and post-production, and the book being a runaway success. Given it's my first book, and George Clooney might be hard to get, I might have to settle for a 3-minute short film. Wish me luck.
