It's All about Grace

The title, It's All about Grace, is based on Ephesians 1:7-8: "In Him we have redemption through His blood, for forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding."

On the first day of Janet's birth (she was born at home), her father named her Jana (pronounced with y). But at the time of her baptism, she was named Janet Elaine with concern by her mother that the J in Jana that is pronounced as Y would be confusing for children. It's a Dutch name (her father came from the Netherlands in his early twenties), and Jana was the name of his sister who died of illness in her teens.

With this background, Janet found herself relating to this name when she started writing poetry in her late teens. When in college, she wrote her first piece for a professor's assignment: The Last Snow Pile. To her surprise and joy, the instructor, as he handed back her piece, said, "You will be published one day." Music to her ears? Yes It was, and a symphony pounding in her heart.

Jana's writing, especially poetry, has been read at many concerts and other programs, and the truth is, as she likes to say, "It's just my nature."

Both "Janet Elaine" and Jana felt great love and support from her big family: her dear parents, John Stammis and Christina (nee Recker) Stammis; seven brothers and one sister and often a "boat load" of relatives and friends." And one aspect of it all, she often says, is, "It was so wonderful that we all went to church and Sunday school, which was my favorite "

Janet and her husband Mark reside happily in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
