From the Medieval to Renaissance and later centuries the beauty of the patina the magnificence of disrepair that always seemed to fascinate and invoke the imagination in a way that was different to other aged pieces. Who and how many had crossed their threshold... and for what reasons. From hot summer days and nights to the protection afforded during the long cold winters I could only feel a strong connection with their place in history. So, on this last visit I decided to photograph this often overlooked part of history in all their designed beauty, aged wonder and beautiful disrepair.
