It Wakes in Me

The book was an excellent suspense novel because it kept you wondering who was responsible for the cause of the strange goings on by an unknown person or persons. It was superb in leading you to one character and ultimately to another and another. Culminating in awe when you learn the reason for all the issues in the first place and who was actually responsile. For the peculiar occurrences that came to pass and the techniques used to resolve the mystery. Great couldn't put it down.

Thank goodness the third book is already released!

It Wakes In Me by Kathleen O'Neal Gear is the sequel to It Sleeps In Me. The first of the series began an intricate and erotic journey to the start of a scandal. Event after another create questions that seem to leave the reader even more puzzled. Theories are created only to find them incorrect and then reconsidered again. The end of the story drops off leaving you with so many unanswered questions. You hope that the answers will be found in the next story which is It Wakes In Me. More characters are introduced in this story and are equally well groomed. Returning characters are developed further. The answers are still not quite clear but the reader is able to gain some insight on the true political scandal that is in place in the Black Falcon Nation. Even a new romance begins to spawn its intricate web around our characters. Kathleen has once again amazed me at her masterful way of telling a story worthy of the best-sellers list. I can not wait to read the final book (It Dreams In Me) to gain the conclusion that I so desperately want. To gain the answers that eludes me. And to follow the characters that I have instantly fallen in love with. The story again leaves you with unanswered questions but the good news is that there is a third book to this journey and a conclusion to Sora's story.

It Wakes in Me, by kathleen O'Neal Gear

Kathleen O'Neal Gear and Michael Geer, in their individual books and those authored together, remind us who we are. Most of the time we are caught up in the entropy we have created on our home world, and forget being a part of the family of Earth. Often we are not sure if we have progressed or regressed since the times of ancient civilizations here on Turtle Island (North America). Combining the wisdom of spirit, mind, and body, their stories embody the richness of humanity struggling to understand itself in ancient times - just as we do now. This book, the second of a three part series, engages the reader on levels not often attempted - and I think never better done. It is based on a thorough understanding of the times, the place, and the societies as they are known today. And on a deep understanding of human nature. Kathleen O'Neal Gear uses her scientific knowledge, deep human insights, and compassion to bring forth a tale intriguing on many levels. It was thought provoking, providing rich imagery of our land and its people at a time when they were more in tune to their natural rhythms, before the forest that shaped their lives was accosted and forever changed. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to the conclusion.

This story seems to be getting better and better by the moment.

This was another amazing book by Kathleen O'Neal Gear. "It Wakes in Me" quickly picks up from her previous book "It Sleeps In Me," which I'd enjoyed just as much. If you're not familiar of this saga it's really focus on Sora, the High Chieftess from the Black Falcon Nation. She has been plagued with blackouts and fits since her seventh winter. As her world went dark, two gleaming eyes burned to life inside her. She named these occurrences the Midnight Fox, and remembered nothing after them. Plagued with this terrible spirit illness, she looks for healing of her soul and mind, the strength to lead her people, and the courage to save her own life. In this book we continue on Sora and is now suspected of a series of murders, but thanks to the blackouts she suffers, she cannot fully defend herself against the charges. But when she's abducted by the Loon People (so that she may be held accountable for these murders), she's placed in the custody of the kindly priest Strongheart, who, through the use of wisdom and medicines, helps Sora discover the truth about herself and her past. Was she really responsible for the death of her father? Did she really kill Skinner, the Loon People's war chief? Were "wandering souls" responsible for these murders, or was it simple malfeasance? These are the questions Sora must find the answers to if she is to clear her name and find the strength to lead her people. After reading this book it had help me piece together some of the question that had left me hanging from her previous book at the same time creating new ones which will hopefully be answered by her sequel. Kathleen continues on giving the readers colorful atmospheric description of the Florida panhandle while maintaining full and interesting cultural facts relevant to the time and region. Her story won't be complete by providing us plenty of intrigue as the plot unfolds, and spice up moments here and then with steamy, erotic passages. This book offers a strong, accessible middle volume of a projected trilogy. I highly recommend this book to those who are following up on this story and for those who are curious.

Better than the First!!!

This is by far better than It Sleeps in me the first in a triogy of books. It answers what happened in the 1st books but also leaves you hanging and asking for more from Kathleen Gear.
