It Should Have Been You

By: Slaughter, Lynn

Once I decided to kill her, the rest was surprisingly easy.

Five months after her twin sister Moura's brutal murder, seventeen-year-old Clara Seibert is still trying to piece her life back together. The gifted piano prodigy she grew up in the shadow of is gone, but the whispers haven't stopped-half the student body at Leonard High still believes Clara had something to do with Moura's death. Even Detective Martino, the lead investigator, keeps circling back to Clara as his prime suspect. Writing the anonymous advice column "Since You Asked" for the school paper is the one thing keeping Clara sane.

Then a message arrives in her inbox: It should have been you... but soon.

Someone knows who writes the column. Someone knows exactly where to hit her. And someone may be finishing what they started the night Moura died. As threatening calls resume, a mysterious van shadows her through the parking lot, and secrets begin surfacing about her sister's supposedly perfect life, Clara realizes the only way to save herself is to uncover the truth about Moura's murder-before the killer strikes again. With help from her fiercely loyal best friend Jenny, a cryptic new boy at school, and her own sharp instincts, Clara races to identify a killer hiding in plain sight among family friends, music teachers, jealous rivals, and classmates she thought she could trust.

A gripping YA psychological thriller filled with sisterly heartbreak, small-town secrets, and pulse-pounding suspense, this novel is perfect for readers who devoured One of Us Is Lying, We Were Liars, and Sadie.
