This third published poetry collection by R.D. Shepard is a dedication to his late father, who died in 2014. Twenty-one separate pieces were written through his ongoing process of grieving and understanding his symptoms of trauma related to losing his father at seventeen. Shepard took a pledge early on in his life to be uncomfortably open about the symptoms of his mental illness as a way of destigmatizing mental illness as a whole and to help others dealing with similar symptoms to navigate through the societal shame resulting from that stigma.
