Good information but a bit dry.

This book has good information on various aspects of Israel: geography, history, governance, citizens, political conflicts, etc. The pictures are good, albeit a bit older. There is a bit of repetition of information in a couple places, but overall the flow of the narrative is good. The author gives a good overview of the history and more recent political events of Israel. She also includes a very nice timeline, a good glossary and a great index. This book is intended for older children, but it would be a bit hard to get them to really get into this book because of the dry nature of the material. Parts, however, could be a great starter for discussion around the nation, history, and conflict.
