In this book, Dr. Hoodbhoy, a nuclear physicist, eloquently and usefully draws attention to the plight of science and technology in the Muslim world and to the need to do something about it. The book also makes some other helpful insights here and there about why, after centuries of brilliant achievements, science suffered such a fate in the Muslim world. But the book also suffers from some very serious flaws in its view of Islam and analysis of Islamic history.

This book is short and concise yet delves deep into the conflict of Islam and science. A very well researched book that helps to understand why science is not as big in the Muslim world as the west where in the past between the 9th and 13th centuries, the Muslim world were leading in science and intellectualism. So many skeptics and scientists existed between in that era and their works and reception were in conflict with orthodoxy and in this book, the author explains that very well with suggestions in the last chapter for the future.
