Isabella, a woman with short, gray, shaggy hair and a heart of stone, is brutal, ruthless, and utterly pragmatic. Her crew of bearded, world-weary outlaws has landed in a world of digital wealth and superficial carelessness.

The Black Crow's first act in the modern world is a massacre: The pirates encounter a luxurious yacht off Miami, where young, wealthy people are partying. Isabella is horrified to discover that the loot consists not of gold and jewels, but of invisible Bitcoins and useless cell phones. The captain reacts with cold fury.
