From page iv, The Author: "Irving B. Weber was born in Iowa City, December 19, 1900. The release of Volume VIII has been intentionally timed for initial release at the dedication of the new Irving B. Weber Elementary School on Rohret Road in the southwestern part of Iowa City. His business career was devoted to the Quality Chekd Products Association which he helped found in 1944. Mr. Weber retains a consuming passion for learning and he continues to generate new articles of historical significance to the greater Iowa City area. While space does not permit an in-depth review of his distinctions and rewards, some of the highlights would have to include: --Recipient of the James E. Stronks award for distinguished service to the Iowa City Noon Lions Club.--Recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, highest award in international Lionism.--Designation as the official Iowa City Historian. --Election to the National Iowa Letterman's Club Athletic Hall of Fame. --The naming of Iowa City's first new elementary in 24 years: Irving B.
