An insightful collection

Iron Fever & Other Poems is a free-verse collection by award-winning poet Stephan Torre. Thoughts on wilderness, daily work in rural dwellings, conflicts over gender and privilege, and human greed and conflict over land ownership mark this insightful collection. Core Testing: If suffering puts root hairs/into a hardening mesh of nerves//and swells into an invisible/weight hanging on the torso,//the way burl or conk bulges on a trunk/some milky dream fluid gone wild birdseye//or gray and rubbery, pulling the body/slightly off to one side... If the heart had rings//and you could stare into the stump/before falling, maybe you could tell//from its simple labor, when craving/kinks veins and ganglia into blind//pockets, maybe you could reach in, hear/the hours pumping, pinch the soft amber//marbles of blood, and taste/the citrus of nothingness.
