An excellent book for young people

For teenagers and even adults that want an informative, interesting, and easy-to-read book on Iraq, this is the book for you! It just tied for first place for the Middle East Outreach Council's 2007 award for best reference book for young people. The book is clearly written, well organized, and nicely illustrated (with great photos and maps). It gives a general overview of the country: its geography, history, ethnic composition, and current issues. It even talks about sports, the internet, and cell phones! It also seems to be a relatively balanced account, a refreshing contrast from much of the work on Iraq that is published lately. I think young people would find the last chapter's outlining of current challenges to be really interesting, and the appendices at the end (Facts at a Glance, History at a Glance, Further Reading, etc.) are useful too. Overall, this is an excellent book, particularly for young people.
