This book is for those who cannot find a church that is serious about Jesus and the Christian Life. It is also for those who cannot find a church that helps with or supports their search for authentic faith, obedient prayer and the bonds of true friendship with others who want to know and follow Jesus. Unlike most churches today, this book is not about some canned version or party-line assumptions that others have constructed about Jesus. We need a church that is fresh, centered on the story of Jesus and vested in the lives of the people who want to follow Him. More importantly, it needs to be constantly shaped and guided by prayer-listening-for-the-guidance-of-the-Holy-Spirit kind of prayer. True belief in the Resurrection is the conviction that Jesus still lives-that He has returned to be with us as Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit of our crucified and Risen Savior and Lord. Sometimes we say such words, but few churches really believe them. We need a new approach to being the church.
