Good for beginners

This book provides an introduction to the world of investing. It teaches readers basic information about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and asset allocation. The subject of investing can be very confusing to the general public, and the author does a good job of simplifying the subject in plain English. The author points out that no one really teaches us how to become investors. In schools, students are taught subjects such as English, poetry, math, and history. While these subjects are important, we as a society are poorly educated about managing our money. I would not recommend buying individual stocks after reading this book, but it is a good start for anyone interested in investing. - Mariusz Skonieczny, author of Why Are We So Clueless about the Stock Market? Learn how to invest your money, how to pick stocks, and how to make money in the stock market

my review of investing demystified

the book is OK still a little mystified with it all, it was recommended by my professor for an investment course but he even said it wasn't quite what he would have liked us to have but better than some others....

Good basic coverage but more detail would be appreciated

If you're just starting out investing your money, this book is a great start. However, don't stop here! There's plenty of things this book did not cover. The Good This book gave a decent overview of stocks, bonds, cash, mutual funds, and a few other instruments (commodities, real estate) as well. The author provided well-balanced explanations for the advantages and disadvantages of the various instruments. Popular online sources for financial data were given. The Bad Since it is intended for a general audience, there is very little technical/mathematical/economic details. I wish the author had some "optional sections" at various points in the book that gave more detailed (possibly mathematical) explanations. Also, short trading, options, and futures were not covered at all. Even if beginner investors do not use these techniques, many would appreciate just a few sentences about each and how they fit in the greater scheme of investing.
