Intraformational Conglomerate and Katangian Base Conglomerate

In the KASUMBALESA sector, two conglomerates outcrop that were formed at different times: the basic Katanguian conglomerate that constitutes the KILOMONKOBO massif and the intraformational conglomerate that outcrops at KIBWE I. This work aims to establish the similarities and differences between these two conglomerates. These two formations have already been the subject of isolated petrographic, sedimentological and structural studies. All these studies show evidence that has never been gathered for a comparison between the intraformational conglomerate and the basic Katangan conglomerate. Some of these studies, (sedimentological studies), have been carried out only on the basic Katangan conglomerate; and thus do not allow a comparison between the two conglomerates. In order to compare these two formations, it is necessary to make a study that will bring out all the elements likely to establish the similarities and the divergences between the basic conglomerate of the Katanguien and the intraformational conglomerate by resorting at the same time to petrographic, sedimentological and structural studies.
