Nothing can truly prepare a man for prison. There are no guidebooks, no navigation system, no method that is universal. It is trial (no pun intended) and error.
When I was paroled on July 16, 2021, by the North Carolina Parole Commission, after having served 30 years on an 80-year sentence, I thought that my nightmare had at last come to an end. Then I was told that, no, I would not be going home but was being sent to South Carolina to serve a consecutive 15-year sentence for the same crime and victim as in North Carolina. Southern Justice
